1.5Theses layout

         The project includes of five chapters, Chapter one Includes the introduction and gives idea of the automated door opener and methodology that will be used to create it, Chapter two Contains an overview of the history of project, Chapter three Talk about components that used to design the system, Chapter four Talk about the description system design and implementation, and at Chapter Contains conclusion and recommendations and appropriate appendices are attached at the end of the project.

 

1.4 Methodology

          A number of technologies are available to make such kinds of systems like PIR sensors, Radar sensors, Laser sensors, Infrared sensors, etc. In this raspberry pi based project, we have tried to replicate the same system by using a PIR sensor.  It uses a motion-detecting sensor (PIR sensor) to open or close the door which detects the infrared energy omitted from human's body.

          When someone comes in front of the door, the infrared energy detected by the sensor changes and it triggers the sensor to open the door whenever someone approaches the door. The signal is further sent to raspberry pi microcontroller that controls the door.

 

1.3 Objectives

·        The objective of this project is to design and fabricate an automatic door opening using IR proximity sensors.

·        The door is to open automatically upon detecting a person standing in front of it, and after the person has passed through, should close automatically. The door opens only after the person is present for a stipulated amount of time. If, after detecting a person in front of it, the person does not cross the door and goes in some other direction, then the door should close after a preset “timeout” limit. We are using microcontroller/ raspberry pi to provide the logic for the operation of the door. One major advantage of using the microcontroller/ raspberry pi is that we can use the same door for different applications just by altering the programming logic without any change in the hardware.

·        In this project we are designing a basic prototype of the automatic sliding door which can be modified for various industrial and commercial purposes.

·        To provide hands on skills in hardware and software designing. To understand the different motion detectors operated.

·        In addition, a surveillance camera is used near the gate, moving at a free angle to the right and north.

·        And LCD to display the number of people passing through this section, design of security system for access control by surveillance cameras.
